How many war movies...
How many war movies, how many more? How beautiful, how moving, but they’re not. They’re just stupid. There is no bravery, only obedience and fear and rage. And revenge forever. And now we have a new justification and we are full of passionate intensity. I am going to war on war. All of them. All Quiet? Really? How would you know? After so many years of war you cannot conceive of man without killing. “The killer ape” you place on your wall. You love it.
Now Putin has released your rage, again, the one feeling you feel. The orgasm of rage. I have e seldom seen i have never see you so animated and happy. Eyes lit up. Evidence of the emptiest of lives.
The makers of war movies must kill off the best actor. Two hours and ten minutes in, they kill, the compassionate man. Why? Whats your point? To turn the screw. O the pitilessness. Is your mind Quiet now? All Quiet? I really don’t know, don’t we know by now? What are we triggering? What did warriors do before war movies? War? If that is what you want, o knights of some clan, just say it. In fact the tv generals do say it. Evangelically, wd just need to go in there and take ‘em out. Then Ali Velshi’s tail gets bushy! O yes indeedy. “This way is freedom, that way is evil.” Said PBS, sans GPS. They just know it’s East…. Of Eden.
From the earliest days of the invasion of Ukraine I have heard not a whisper of peace. Outrage. Yes. More justification for war is all I’ve heard. As if the US was not glutted after killing so many brown people. Ah youth springs eternal in the loins of the mid West. And England? As if she was horny for it.
Europeans suddenly turn saints with butter not melting after their ghoulish twentieth century. And the previous five centuries of Third World butchery.
But enough about me. I have discovered recently the cul de sac of what humans imagine humans to be. The good, the bad then the truly hideous. The good and the evil, the chosen the righteous and the innocent. I thank Hera I never got the memo.
Out of the cul de sacs pour generations of righteous crusaders, seeking and finding evil doers. Indoctrinations train us like special agents to find evil. The woke, the Religious Right, the Left, the left, the gays, the straights the trans, the toxically masculine. We are a generation of finger pointers. “If you see something say something.” You should know, Stalin said it too.
Then we gaze at cameras mystified by conspiracy theories! The question, in polite conversation, should be simply, whats yours? Conspiracies: like Astrological Signs. “Hi, stop the steal?” “Nah, I’m a Russian meddler guy.” “O, ok. Boo! Hiss! Should be on your dating profile dear.” It isn’t which conspiracy, it is conspiracy at all. I long for the movie: “Hey godfather, your brother betrayed you and your son is gay!” “So?” “Ya want I should bump dem off?” “No. Why? They are my brother and my son.”
Not exciting enough. Not cliche enough, our deepest belief. The cliche. Not as exciting as All Quiet, with German victims who waited all of 20 years for revenge.
I acknowledge these are real feelings, I also think we do not grow beyond them, where some have grown: Socrates and Cyrus the Great, because we have chosen to be children, always, of some God. So our best are deeply mediocre.
The latest conclusion among the cheeky chappie brigade, Mehdi Hassan and Owen Jones to name but two, is that the Left is unpersuasive. If you include yourselves and blank out Bernie Sanders, strangely include Obama and Blair in the Che of today club, Starmer is left!?! we realize that leftism has become a symbol, chatted about by the highly educated and paid, sound and passive aggression, signifying nothing. But perhaps we do find the audience that flocks to War movies to feel the deeper deep your obedient lives have made you lack so, lackingly.
In belief systems empty of personal meaning war gives us a nihilistic one. A woman friend of mine just said O I don’t watch them. So, we know who do. Men without souls need nations, a god who sees their every move and punishes or rewards them. Unhappy the nations that need heroes.
